Terms

You need an account to vote, nominate or back a participant. Give accurate details, keep your sign-in secure, and do not let anyone else use your account. You must be 18 or older.

We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, and we may void votes cast from it.

Each person gets one vote per competition. That limit is the whole point of the People's Choice board, so we enforce it in the database rather than trusting the browser.

You must not:

• Create more than one account in order to vote more than once.
• Use scripts, bots or automated tools to cast votes.
• Pay, or accept payment, in exchange for votes.

Where we find manipulation we may void the affected votes, suspend the accounts involved, disqualify an entry, or cancel the competition outright. Standings are calculated on our servers and our calculation is final.

Backing lets you put money behind a participant you believe in. It is shown on a separate Most Backed board.

Backing has no effect whatsoever on the People's Choice ranking. The two boards are kept entirely separate and are never combined. Money cannot buy a position, move a participant up, or influence who wins the vote. If it ever appeared to, that would be a fault and we would want to hear about it.

Backing is not a bet, a wager, an investment, a donation to a registered charity, or an entry into a prize draw. You receive no financial return and no goods. It is a public show of support and nothing more.

Payments are handled by Paystack. Once a backing is confirmed it is generally final. If you were charged in error, charged twice, or a payment succeeded but was not recorded, contact us and we will put it right.

Business profiles may be created from publicly available information so that a competition has something to rank. If you own or represent a business, you can claim its profile; a person reviews every claim by hand, and nothing on the profile changes until the claim is approved.

If you would rather a business you own were not listed, write to us and we will remove it.

Anyone signed in may nominate a business for an open competition. Every nomination is reviewed before it appears. Do not submit anything false, defamatory, offensive, or that you have no right to submit. We may reject or remove a nomination without giving a reason.

We decide when a competition opens for nominations, opens for voting, closes and publishes results. We may change those dates, extend or shorten a competition, or cancel one where its integrity has been compromised. Where a competition is cancelled after backings were taken, we will contact backers about a refund.

RankNaija is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that the site will always be available, that a listing is accurate, or that any particular business is any good — a ranking reflects the votes cast, not our endorsement. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
